I was wondering if anyone could help me.
I am selling my computer and am worried about my personal details being recovered from the hard drive at some point in the future .
I was wondering if there was any software i could get that would enable me to completely wipe my hard drive clean making it impossible to recover any old files, etc.
I have come accross a DOS program called Killdisk in the past but this will not work for me as i do not have a floppy drive.
Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome :)
Killdisk is popular. It can be downloaded and an ISO. This means that it will create a bootable CD to run it from.
Download Bootable ISO Image of Active@ KillDisk to burn CD (http://download2.lsoft.net/boot-cd-iso.zip)
How to burn CD from ISO image file ? (http://www.ntfs.com/iso-burning.htm)

Did you create the bootable CD from the instructions?
What happens when you boot from the CD?

The computer simply loads as per normal.

The computer simply loads as per normal.
Howdy:
Did you boot into BIOS (setup) and make sure the first boot device was set as the cd drive??

Check the cd that you burned and tell us what it says on there as far as the file names are..

I've just tried that ISO and it works fine.
Double check that you have your CD set to boot. If needed disable booting from the HDD.
These are the files on the Windows part of the CD. Killdisk is in the bootable part. It will start automatically when you boot from the CD.
PART_REC.PDF
PWD_CHNG.PDF
KILLDISK.PDF
UNERASER.PDF
DISK_IMG.PDF
There should be only one file
boot-dsk. iso
5548kb
That is the ISO. When burned it contains the boot image containing Killdisk and those PDF files.
