I might add this to the above:
I just had a very bad experience with Adobe Photoshop Album 3.0 Starter Edition! I spent hours organizing my pics into the system on the 2.0 version of the prog but then discovered a better 3.0 version was available. I upgraded but the moment I upgraded it told me I could no longer use it without registering. I gave my e mail but received no registering unlock code by e mail! Okay, it was free but it is so infuriating! The pics are still on my computer of course but the way I carefully organized them into a slideshow is now gone!
This should be a warning to all! One may use a free prog, but the moment one upgrades to a better available free prog, one can be cut off!!

Any advice on any other good photo organizer including slideshow organizer would be appreciated!

Did you search the software review forum here?
A quick search for photo in it found these results (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/search.php?searchid=842889)

I did some research and have downloaded and already used Google Picassa - it is totally free - no catches, unlike some, and it is a superb organizer of pics and can set up the best free slideshow I have ever seen. I am knocked out with it!!

And please everybody, note my warning about "free starter editions" of software which is "free" - although Adobe claim that their Photo Album 3.0 "Starter" was free, I could not get the unlock code off them when I wanted it.

Campo - I was just about to reply to you by suggesting Google's free program Picassa, but then saw your last post. At any rate, I can second your choice for anyone searching for an excellent and 'no cost' photo organizer. :thrilled:

campo, thanks for posting back. I've been using picassa for a while myself and have been pleased. I even started using it to pull the photos off my camera's CF disk. ( I tried adobe photo album, but didn't like it either)

Thanks for your additional comments, guys. I appreciate it.
But - guess what? - I have egg on my face this morning because Adobe did finally send me an 'unlock code' and it did work fine. So apologies to Adobe! Its just that - in my experience - if somebody says they are going to send you a software unlock code it either comes within 5 minutes or certainly within about 6 hours - if neither, it never comes! But Adobe just proved me wrong by sending my unlock code circa 24 hours later.
However, I really find Picassa 2 to be better, although the simplicity of applying photo enhancements etc., is probably better on Adobe.
Thanks guys!

I third the Picasa choice.
