Dell and Ghost 10 90 day Trial
A friend of mine bought a Dell E310 Media Center Edition about three weeks ago.
It came pre installed with Norton Ghost 10 (90 day trial.) Seems to work ok, but it runs from within Windows. So what if Windows will not boot, what then. I've been using ghost 2003 for the past few years and with it you can create a ghost boot disk to access the .gho files if windows will not boot. The statements below in quotations came from the Ghost 10 noHelp File. "To restore your computer, files, or folders using Symantec Recovery Disk, use the product CD to boot into the recovery environment. In the recovery environment, you can run, among other tools, the Recover My Computer Wizard (to restore your computer) or the Recover My Files Wizard (to restore files or folders). After running the Recover My Computer Wizard, you can reboot the computer into its previous, usable state. If you purchased Norton Ghost pre-installed on your computer, some features in the recovery environment may or may not be included, depending on how the computer manufacturer chose to install Norton Ghost. Typically, the recovery environment has also been pre-installed on your computer and can be started after rebooting. If you have been given a product CD, be sure to store it in a safe and secure place." Of course he did not receive the ghost product CD with the computer. My question is sense he doesn't have the product CD is there a way in Ghost 10 to create a boot disk? |

Can Ghost be opened from the Start Menu? If so, does it offer the option to make a boot/recovery disk?

Thanks Miz for the reply .
I can open ghost from the Start menu but there is no option to create a ghost boot disk that i can find. Thought there might an option in the Safe Mode or the Utilities menu. But no luck. Looks like he will have to buy the boxed version with disk. He would after 90 days anyways. Thanks Again |

That was going to be my next suggestion.
![]() Trial versions are commonly limited versions...just enough of the program to...they hope...make you want to buy the whole thing. |
