I have a laptop I'm working on that needs to have win95 re-installed [or even win98] problem is I don't have the disketts [there is no cdrom drive] How can I get/make installation disketts? Is there a place where I can download 'en? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

About the only luck you will have is at Ebay. I have seen them for sale in there. Just be careful and check the person out before you buy.

You will not be able to download them. THat is very illegal if you do find a site, I would advise you not to get them. Could cost more than it is worth..

Also, if you do buy them off anyone. Make sure you do a thorough Virus Scan before Opening the disk.

Last thing is that you will only be able to get Win/95. 98 never was on diskettes as it would take about 90 of them.(I think).... Good luck..

BTW, do you by chance a Partition on that Laptop. If so you may be able to Put win/95 files on the Partition and then Formatt C: drive and reinstall from the Partition... just an Idea....

Joxman, I doubt a W95 reinstall is going to help with the mouse problem on this machine.

Your other post is in the right place (hardware forum) and we'll do our best there to get this thing working for you.

Hey guys :)
Thanks for the prompt replies. I'm not intending to rip Bill off or anything. I've just inherited a prob from an office comp that was sold to my friend without the proper periphials. A re-install will solve a great amount of headaches as I need to get rid of all LAN apps and configure as a standalone *sigh*. You won't believe all the 'rem' statements in .ini .bat .sys files that were there before I even got my paws on it. The mouse prob is minor but I hate not knowing answers to puzzles...strike that, I love the satisfaction I get when I solve a puzzle, not to mention the increased knowledge. :) um.. how would you suggest I get win95 onto the laptop? I have no CD drive, Zip, or nic/modem.

No problems Joxman, I just posted about how to get into BIOS to attempt to fix the mouse problem but I know what you mean about ex-network machines converting to standalone.

What say we keep all the posts on this subject in the original hardware topic to save us having to jump back and forwards. Frankly, this one is going to encompass networking, hardware & W95.
I'm going to close this one and copy these posts into the other topic for continuities' sake.
