Backup question using Nero Backitup

I have a win xp machine with 200 gb hd. I need to do a backup of my whole system, because i suspect my hd has problems and i dont want to lose any data. I have two options, windows backup, or Nero Backup. I am trying to use the nero, but before i do, i wanted to know if anyone could explain somthing to me. If my Hd crashes, and i need to restore my full backup to another Hd, what do i have to do? The new Hd will have no os, so can you restore a backup to a new hd, or do you have to install windows, and nero to restore the full backup? thanks in advance for any input.

Nero BackItUp just backs up files. It doesn't not backup your system.

What you want it an imaging utility such as Acronis True Image.

This will take a full copy of your drive/partition which you can store on a DVD. You can then boot using the rescue CD and restore the full image.
