i am trying to convert a .pwd (print workshop doc.) into a .jpeg file

Hello and welcome to CTH.
The PrintWorkshop file is not an image, it's a desktop publishing file so there isn't an easy way to simply convert it.
What you can try is export to HTML then open it in a browser and see if you can copy the image or parts of the document

You might want to try a 'screen capture' program - I've used SnagIt (http://techsmith.com/) for years now - the program has many options, one of which allows you to select a portion of the screen and then save that 'capture' in various formats, including JPEG - take a look at the Tech Smith web site to see if that might be a solution. When your saving the picture at the bottom under the name you want to save it as, you can choose what format you want the file saved as, on photoshop there is :)
