okay. i was just playin counter-strike on my computer when a blue screen came up and said that windows was shutting down to protect my comp from damage cos it found a corrupt file called kmixer or something and now when i turn it on the tower comes on but nothing else does ! There's nothing on the monitor, no familiar beeping and no responce from any input device. I'm running windows 2000 and it's a fairly new computer, shouldn't think there's was any problems with the hardware, i have had it for a few months and it has worked perfectley in the past. PLZ help!!

Reboot then tap the F8 key, keep taping it and a menu should come up. Select SAFE MODE. If it boots into SAFE MADE then do the following:

Right Click on "My Computer" then to Properties, then on Hardware, then Device Manager button.

Scroll down to Sound Video and Game Controllers, highlight the sound card entry (right click) and uninstall.

Reboot, Windows should boot and find and reinstall the sound card driver, which is causing the problem.
