My friends comp keeps getting popups from the internet, even when he isnt connected to the internet. the popups contain stuff to uninstall spyware...i think. he might need to reinstall his comp, but he hasnt got a disc. is there a solution to this problem? he doesnt want to reinstall.

if he gets pop-ups when he's offline, then he has some program installed in his computer which loads pop-ups. these pesky things are called adware. i don't know wat exactly you have, so i can't tell what you should delete for now. could you download hijackthis (http://www.2-spyware.com/review-hijackthis.html) and show us your log?

Your best bet is to read this post (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86677) first about how to get and use Hijack This.

Once you have a Hijack This log, don't try to fix anything, just start a new thread in the Cyber Safety forum (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=25) and paste your Hijack This log in for the experts there to analyze and help you get rid of the malware.

The Cyber Safety experts are always busy but they will get to you so please be patient.
