Exclamation Please Help!

I just posted in the WinXP forum and they directed me here. It's a problem I'm having with, I believe cookies/history/temp files related to my website. Here's the link to that post...
http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/...d.php?t=127645

Please let me know if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks!

Well it could be that the sub pages are coded poorly.

I don't see why it would be a cookie issue unless the site is setting a cookie.

It could also be a local dns problem related to your isp.

It could also be related to all the popups and rotating ads. I got a bigtime page hangup from banner-a.oddcast dot com that wouldn't load and it stopped the page from loading properly. Apparently part of the ad code loaded but not all of it. I don't think it will ever work right for everyone until you change hosts.

The pages are coded fine. I've been using them for over 2 years and never had a problem... it just started this morning. I went to the forum for the hosting company and nobody else is having the same problem either.

Seems to be just me... and everyone else that visited MY site said they had no problems... that's why I'm thinking it's got something to do with my computer.

It might not have anything to do with the cookies, but all I know is that when I cleared my cookies, and my history and my temp files, then restarted my comp I was able to view EVERY sub-page ONE time, then when I navigated away and back to any page I already visited once since my restart... no matter how I got there (link, directly into address bar, etc)... that's when I got the "page cannot be displayed" page.

Also, my IE settings automatically block all of the popups on the site, so it's not them... although It probably would be a good idea to change hosts... I guess I don't realize how bad the ads are since I can't see any of them except the banner ad at the top.

Is this something that could just happen out of the blue? I don't know anything about this... how could I find out if this might be the problem?

This is gonna drive me crazy!

Ok... I just went back to the forum for the hosting company and someone else was having the same problem and found out it's the temp files. She said she deleted her files (through tools > internet options) and it worked for just ONE visit and then it didn't work again... just like what happened for me.

So I just deleted my files (and nothing else... including no restart) and then it worked for me. It even allowed me to go back to my home page and then go back to the page as many times as I wanted... and I could also refresh the page and it would work. But now here's where the problem comes back...

When I go back to one of the sub-pages by typing the address of the sub-page that's already been visited into the address bar, I then get the "page cannot be displayed" page again.

Then I click tools > internet options > delete files and the process starts all over again. So it definitely has something to do with the files... but what the heck is it?!!

The pages aren't coded fine. All one needs to do is look at the code to see the errors in it.

Have you tested with a different browser?

Buzz... are you referring to the tables I have left empty? All of my other sites are working fine and the only difference is the empty tables. I use the same template for all of my sites. Do you see anything in particular that you think might be causing this problem?

degsy... yes, it's been tested with firefox and the same thing is happening.

Oh, yeah... that doesn't even show up in the site builder so I never even noticed that until I viewed my source from the page itself...

the hosting company places that snippet of code automatically so they can get their ad bar at the top of the page... there's nothing I can do about that until I switch host's... but that's not what's causing this problem or it'd be doing the same thing on all of my other sites that are hosted through this company... but it's only this one site.

Thanks for pointing that out though... definitely need to get on the ball with switching over!

I just had an idea... ouch!

Ok, so the only site through my hosting company that has this problem is this one.

This is the only site, of mine, that is in my cache of previously visited sites, since I haven't visited any of my other pages lately... until after the beginning of the problem.

I'm thinking that maybe because the page is in my cache, it keeps going back to the "page cannot be displayed" page because it has THAT page stored.

When I delete my files, IE checks for the new version of the page instead of referring back to the cached version of the page... and that's why it works just one time.

The problem is... I'm not REALLY deleting my cache of visited pages! I clear my history, files and cookies, but in the address bar, it still has the autocomplete for my previously visited pages... so IE actually isn't removing them from the cache!

How can I remove them from the cache, to where it won't show them anymore in the address bar? I thought it was supposed to remove them from the address bar when I cleared my history?

I just found something interesting...

I took my index page (which is working fine, by the way) and created a new page using the SAME EXACT html code.

The same thing is happening to this new page!

It's gotta have something to do with the hosting company, as it seems now that every NEW page I create has this problem. Time to open another support ticket.

Thanks again for all of your help!
