Here is the thing- was given a Compaq Notebook 1500c(older model) with Win98 already installed. It was missing a few files and slow so reformatted dr.c and reinstalled Win98. Everything is working properly with the exception of screen size. Went into Display Settings, but wont let me change size/res. to 800X600 and is currently stuck at 640X480pix.. Tried moving the arrow in settings but wont move. Am I missing something? Tried loading vid. drivers etc., but nothing seems to work. Would app. any help in this matter as is getting very frustrating. Thanks.

Seems you have the BIOS video driver of 640 x 480 at 16 colors. I think Device Manager will show a Standard VGA (can't remember exactly what it reads). Have you run something like Belarc or Everest to determine the model and make of the display adapter and downloaded and installed that driver?

This is a common problem - make sure the device manager is seeing the display as an LCD type display and not a standard VGA monitor.

Native setting is 1024x768.
