IE open in processes but not applications
I own a laptop. I usually leave it on hibernate. Sometimes when I open up my book, I Crtl+Alt+Del and find that my web browser (usually internet explorer, but sometimes firefox) is active under the "Processes" tab, but cannot be found under the "Applications" tab. My comp has been slow lately and I was wondering if this IE problem was a contributing factor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So you're saying that before you hibernate, the browser is there, but afterwards it's no longer visible, but it's process is still running?
Yes, this would certainly cause an issue as the process will still be allocated memory. The more this happens (or the more processes this happens to) the less memory you will have as time progresses. Try selecting the processes which you think have gone wrong and choosing 'end process'. The worst that can happen is that you experienced some sort of freeze/crash and have to restart. Does this only happen with IE/Firefox? The two are completly seperate applications so I find it quite odd that this problem would only affect the two.

I only use IE/Firefox for web browsing. What will happen is I will use one of the programs for a while, close the window, hibernate, and when I open the lid to my laptop again, IE/firefox will still be running in the processes despite the fact that I already closed the window. I always end the process, I just don't understand why it would still be running if I closed the window.

Does the process end before you hibernate? If it doesn't then clearly this issue isn't related to hibernation.

I'm not saying it has to do with hibernation. But yes, the process will continue to stay active after I've closed the window.
