All of a sudden, I can't watch DVDs on my PC

Apparently, the program that runs DVDs has been erased from my PC. I can listen to CDs, but that's it. How do I retrieve the lost DVD program?

Your computer should have come with a CD that has all of the original software (DVD player application) on it. Use that to reinstall the DVD app.

Someone gave me this computer, and I'm fairly computer illiterate. I have "Product Recovery CD-ROM" for IBM ThinkPad, but this is a Gateway computer. Also, I have a Lotus Smart Suite CD. Neither of these will work, right? So what do I do???
