My Windows98 is not detecting LG CDROM drive. Although I install it with same drive. It gives unknown hardware find message and ask for window98 cd, But there is no choice to select cd rom drive.
It also doesn't install "PCI management slot" and declares it as an unknown hardware.
Any help would be appriciated.

Check and make sure the BIOS 'sees' the CD-Rom drive.
If it doesn't:
Check the flat cable connection (both ends), power connection.
Did you add/remove hardware-software prior to problem?
If it does:
Try removing it from Control Panel - system - device manager
let windows 'rediscover' on next boot cycle.

If I boot computer through CD drive, it workes fine.
There are two unknown hardware listed in device manager. When I remove them, windows detect them and gives "new hardware found" message. It recognizes one as "PCI management slot" and ask to insert Windows98 CD in cddrive. But there is no cddrive listed when I press "browse" button.

1. Boot the system (no CD in the drive) - go to the BIOS - check to see if:
the CD-Rom drive shows up as an installed device
the CD-Rom drive is the 'slave' on the primary IDE controller or 'master' on the secondary IDE controller
2. With the system booted up (no CD in the drive) - go to control panel - system - device manager
What shows up for the CDROM?

1. I see cd-drive as secondary slave.
2.There is nothing for CDROM.

What is the secondary master?
I have on occasion had the system lose the driver for the CD_Rom drive. Very rarely though.
How did you get to this point - did you add or remove some software or hardware?
Did you do a fresh install of 98?

Primary master is windows 98
Primary Salve is Windows xp Por
Secondary Master Not installed
Secondary salve is CDROM
No I didnt un-install any software or hardware.
Yes I re-installed windows98 when found this problem.

Assuming:
Your primary master is a hard drive
Your primary slave is a hard drive
The CD-Rom has always been you secondary slave and it was working in that position
1. Before installing 98, the last time, did you format the primary master drive?
2. If '1' is true, did you re-install the chipset drivers?
Check these out to see if they help - the second one will solve your problem, but check the first one out as well.

Windows will initially use the real-mode drivers, but then will switch itself to virtural drivers and rem out the un-needed lines in the config.sys/autoexec.bat
