Ok, I'v been here before. Went to regester and I was already regestered lol. Last time I was here I had installed windows XP on a 128 mb ram drive. It was windows ME. I learned that XP runs really slow on a 128 mb drive. You guys told me not to go back to ME, that its a bad os or something. So I have windows 98 se. Its all good but, 16 colors? lmao! I hate this huge 640x480! I have tried to install video drivers. I used Berlarc to see what driver I had since windows wont detect it. Niether could belarc.

Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA) [Display adapter]
DELL 1501FP [Monitor] (14.9"vis, s/n 8320U09Q20T1, September 2000)

But I do know its a NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS. Now when I try to install the driver I get a "Cannot detect devices PC ID in NVDDA.inf" then it closes.

What can I do to fix this??

hi

first of all, welcome.

lets find out what you got

VIDEOCARD DETECT

If you cannot identify your video card, you can run the following without opening the case to get an idea of the manufacturer and make:

1. From a DOS prompt, Win 3.x, Win9x, WinNT, or Win2K command prompt type DEBUG and press Enter.

2. A single dash will appear at which point type DC000:35 and then press Enter (DC000:50 may also work for newer cards).

3. You may need to type D at the second dash and press Enter for all of the information to appear.

You can type D more than once to see more info appear.

4. Q to exit

Thanks for two things, one the welcome and two the reply. I was right, I do have NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS. But this does not help me. Like I said in my post, the setup file will not work. I have downloaded the driver from both Nvidia and Dell. They both give me the same error.

"Cannot detect devices PC ID in NVDDA.inf"

Now when I go to display->settings->advanced->adpter->change
I can try to update the driver but when I do it tells me what the best update is. (lol Im the boss here!). I can tell it to look in the nvidia driver folder but it wont look there.

It insist on using C:/Windows/Inf/msdisp.inf but this is not my nvidia driver!!
Help plz

hmmm
if you ran a recent Nvidia's setup before, then you should first uninstall it

then restart, and then install this older version.
let us know if that worked, please?
