Task list full of rubbish on startup

When I start my computer there are a bunch of tasks that come up in my task list, I think they're left over from programs I've long since uninstalled. Every time I boot I have to manually stop the tasks from the task list, it's pretty tedious. How can I remove them permanently?

You can download and install StartupCPL.zip which is handy for eliminating unnecessary startup tasks. Try downloading from www.pcworld.com, if not there, locate with search engine.
