Help needed please...

I am not very good with computers at all, and was wondering if someone could give me some help.
When i turn the pc on, i get a message saying:

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable

Then it goes onto say strike f1 to boot, f2 for set up utility, but doesnt allow me to do this.

Any ideas?
Any help will be apprieciated, thanks.

Howdy and welcome to CTH:

Are you using a USB keyboard?? If so, change it to a PS/2 keyboard and see if that works !!

As for the PXE error, you need to get into BIOS (setup) and make sure "Wake on LAN" is disabled.. Also, check the boot order and make sure "Boot on LAN" is not an option anywhere or the PXE as a boot device is not an option.. If you find it is, change it!!

Went into the Bios, under Boot sequence it says;

cd rom device (not installed)
hard disc drive (not installed)
Diskette drive
MBA UNDI (bus1 slot12)

This doesnt look good does it?

No it doesn't.. Is there an hdd installed or a cd-rom drive??

Try setting the IDE devices options to "auto" for everything..

Double check all the connections to the hdd and cd-rom as well as the connection to the motherboard.. Make sure they are tight and installed correctly..

Is the hdd and cd-rom on the same IDE cable??
