We have 3 computers total, 2 connected wirelessly and the other plugged directly into the wireless router. Recently when a certain wireless computer is downloading anything, the computer plugged into the router will slow down, alot. When im playing half life games my ping is usually 40 but one that wireless computer is downloading anything my ping shoots to 300-500. I thought that the computer plugged into the router got all the bandwidth first and all the other computers get whats left? Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this? Or is this suppose to happen? Thanks.

Yeah, I've wondered about this myself. I use a pretty basic wired router and ever since my sone came home from college, my bandwidth has been intermittently really bad. It's just the router doing it's best to share. You can check your documentation for some way to prioritize, but I don't hold much hope.

you can prioritize which computer has more bandwidth I believe but on default it splits the connection between the computers as even as possible. And if the people on the other computers won't stop downloading when you ask them to then just go into yoru router and temporarily block their mac address. :D

Depends on the make/model and ver of your router. Some routers will do QOS while others just don't have that option. Post back with your routers make, model, and ver number and you can get more help.
