i have two computers, we can just call them computers A and B. A is an older emachines that works very well actually, considering its age. computer B is a relatively newer computer. A's internet conection is connected wirelessly through a WPA protected connection. the network adapter is a dlink dwl-g122. B is the problem computer. randomly it will just lose its internet connection. it is connected through a netgear wireless adapter (because the LAN is messed up, ill get help with that another day), but i need help finding out what is causing this problem.

Random wireless loss is often interference. A number of household devices use the same general frequencies including cordless phones and microwaves. Is B farther away from the router than A? You might get in the router and change the channel to a higher number.

B is right next to the router. like i said, B is also having LAN troubles too. i may have fixed it though (not sure, so bear with me). i used a program called TCP/IP Repair and repaired my WinSock and reset my TCP/IP. It has been working since last night, when it would usually cut out, but just to be sure i want to wait a litttle longer. ill get back to you later today.

thanks for the help

the computer (B) was fine all day and then at about 5:45, the computer lost its wireless. i changed the channel of the wireless transmission from 6 to 11. i hope that makes a difference.

Sometimes even if the router is right next to wireless pc the channel can make a difference. I've had a wireless pc next to a wireless router before and because of the channel it couldn't even see the router.

in this situation, the trouble pc is upstairs right next to the router. a microwave and cordless phone is also upstairs. the pc that works correctly is downstairs without as much interference. i changed the router channel to 11. i hope it makes a difference.
