Upload Script needed

Is it possible to get a upload script for a site to upload bit amounts of data (eg large mp3 files, dj mixes and radio shows) in the range of up to 150mb for cheap or even free?

yes. There are many free ones about.

For files that size I'd really use an FTP connection.

If I used FTP how could I allow access to it without jepordising the security of my site (eg giving away usernames and passwords - my site runs from a external host)

If you don't need an FTP Program you could try Dodoupload which is free and downloadable from here.
