PCI Communication device driver
Hello,
I have a old computer running Win 98SE. I am having trouble getting the mouse to work. This PC does not have a PS/2 port for the mouse. I am using an adapter that is plugged into the Com1 serial port. Everytime I restart the PC, it says that it did not find a mouse attached. I am also having trouble installing a driver for the PCI Communication device. Can somebody help me out here. I can't believe I am getting beaten by a mouse. Thanks! PS..Nevermind about the PCI driver problem....I have that licked. However, I still cannot get the mouse to work when attached to the serial port. Hi
welcome to CTH. you might have two serial ports, and the other might work (even when it is marked comm 2... I have seen machines where the cables were in the wrong place, and comm ports were switched) on the other hand, it is more likely that the adaptor is no good for your mouse. See, they are quite often brand specific.

Check your control panel - system - Device manager - mouse - properties
Check to see if there is a conflict (serial port address/interrupts cannot be shared) with the modem. |
