hi,
In my network when i try to access a system then there is a message "no logon servers available" and i cannot access it..
i am in a domain
this problem does not occur to alll the systems...for accessing i have to go to some other system and copy the data to my system.
pls tell me if there is some thing wrong in my settings or some thing else.

What are your settings? Is this a home network or a business
network? Are you the Admin? Are you going through any switches,
routers, or hubs?

sorry for the late reply...
I am the admin of the n/w and this is a comapny n/w.
i have a main domain which has restricted access to the developers ..and i have a workgroup in which there is net access to the users..
these two are in different n/w s..so when i want some of them to workgroup computers to communicate with the domain computers then i change the IP address.
If i want to access some folders between the 2 then there is the problem of
" no logon servers available".......I think this is because at that time the Domain controller is not available ..
Is that right...pls clarify.......again sorry for the late reply

Apologies for hijacking your thread but I am experiencing similar problems.
I'm just starting to get into network administration and have spent the last few days attempting to get my companies new windows 2000 advanced server running as it was intended (not how the suppliers thought it should be running!!).
The company network has a central windows 2000 advanced server domain and several client pcs running either win 2000 or xp. I am having the same problem concerning the error message about the logon server being unavailable. To stop this error message occuring, I have to reset the affected machine and log into the domain again.
Since starting work on the machine, I have had to teach myself DHCP basics which seem to be working but have, as yet, not touched the DNS settings. Could this be the route of the problem?
Sorry for all the text! Any advice anyone can offer would be most appreciated and please don't hesitate to ask for more details concerning the network!
Thanks
