To Hub or not to Hub that is the question.

I need to transfer files between computers Do i have to go thru a hub or can I just go direct from one LAN to another?

if all the computers are already connected through a router then you should be able to share. Give more speciifics as to your actual setup for more specific answers.

I am changing computers I need the files from one on the other. I have no " network" or router. I just wanted to know if I can transfer data via direct LAN cable between the two computers.:confused:

Yes you can go from one LAN adapter to the other. You will more than likely need a crossover ethernet cable. You can also buy special USB leads that are used for data transfer from one pc to another.

Just make sure its not an ordinary USB cable. It looks like this (http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=BF-100C&partner=froogle) and they are about 15 or 20 pounds. Its cheaper to use a crossover ethernet cable but its more difficult to set up.
