Hello,
I'm not very clued up on what to look for in a decent laptop and was wondering if any of your distinguished selves could help me! I have found 2 that I'm comparing, the links to them are:

I've never heard of Advent before and so don't know about their processors etc.
I would like a relatively quick laptop (512MB RAM+) with a decent amount of memory (60GB+). I'd also like to be able to record music onto the laptop so it must be able to do this.
I don't want to spend more than £500 so if someone could help advise me (or even suggest another one to go for!) then I would be eternally grateful.

Thank you very much,
Sam

personally I do not think you can go wrong with either. since theres different warranty rules in your neck of the woods, be sure to read up on both. Dell may have the slight edge - maybe consider adding another 512 megs of ram.

I am not familiar with advent either but if they had the computer I wanted I would purchase from them based on what I read.

The Dell has a 'Special Offer' of 1 gig RAM included in the price now. Offer ends 30 Aug. So it is £495 incl delivery

I personally this it depends on what you plan to do with a laptop. It also depends on how you treat a laptop. Myself for example am very hard on laptops so I would buy one that can take some punishment. Dell makes decent lappers and so does Toshiba. I don't use or endorse Gateway or Compaq.
