CAT6 cable length extender?
I currently have a wireless home network. I installed Linux Xandros onto a hard drive and installed it into my sons computer. Unfortunalty, after some researching, no Linux OS's are currently wireless adaptable. Even though I currently have the router in a lower heigth location than it should be because of the cable length, it still works, but I want it back into a higher location for stronger signal strength, and my sons pc is in a location where it has to be. Is there some kind of adapter that will connect to the rj45 connector so additional cable can be added to it?
Thanks,Jim |

So, you need to make your CAT6 cable longer... officially, you shouldn't do it... you have to replace the run with continuous cable. Now, that said you can buy a coupler, such as this one. You may or may not have reduced performance because of the added connections, but it may be worth trying before running new wire.

Just take a can of compressed air and clean the ventilation areas, fans, etc. Your computer will run cooler with fewer problems. |
