Hi,

I have a NETGEAR wireless ADSL Firewall router model DG834G.

Hopefully someone with more experience than I will be able to help me with this problem.

I wish to prevent any Web networking between two specific times (My son constantly plays CS Force through Steam until the early hours. This disrupts his, and our social life. The game is that addictive [even I am addicted but have more self control] and he is unable to keep to reasonable hours)

The settings for blocking sites in the firewall are, as I see it, not very flexible - you can block a site either always or as per schedule (of which you only have one of).

I have tried using the key word Steam to block as per schedule but this only works if you try to log on through steam after the stated time. I've now tried to use the firewall rules to block all outbound services as per schedule but this didn't work either.

I think the problem is that there are that many servers one could log on to when playing CS force (over 4000) all with different IP addressess I couldn't possible block them all.

Q. How may I close the web connection automatically between two set times?

OS - Win XP home
modem router as above, direct connection from PC ethernet to router

H E L P ! ! :curse:

ha 4000? There is probably 4000 hosted just in your metropolitan area. Across the US alone there is nearly 250000 servers... sorry, I'm a pretty big CS fan... work keeps me in check though.

The service blocking capabilities of your router don't seem very robust... but we'll try. Under services, add a new one for CS. The ports that it uses are 27015-27020. After you do that, in the scheduling you should be able to block the service during certain periods of time.
