Hello CTH
I need to know some technical information in cat5 cable for network. I have a cat5 cable with the inside wires exposed outside of the connecter(plug).
I notice that there are 8 wires inside that are color coded, my question is
this, do the colored wires need to be arrange in a certain order:hmm:
I do understand that when inserting the wires into the connecter in one end
the other end has to match with the same color of the first connecter that has already been installed. does the wires have a certain task or function that works in a certain order/correct order? if yes what are they. can anyone provide information as to what each wire does or the name of that functon.
I'll be more then grateful if anyone can help me with this kind of information:happy:

Thanks

As for the wire pairs the Brown and blue pairs are not used.

"my question is this, do the colored wires need to be arrange in a certain order"

Generally, EIA/TIA 568-B is used for patch cables, the order is
OrangeWhite Orange GreenWhite Blue BlueWhite Green BrownWhite Brown

"can anyone provide information as to what each wire does or the name of that functon"

For 100Base-T (100Mbps ethernet) the pin use is as follows:

1-Tx
2-Tx
3-Rx
4-not used
5-not used
6-Rx
7-not used
8-not used
