Is it Cable or DSL? If you have a separate modem that connects to the router its a good idea to run that through a power cycle and/or reset it. Also do you have any firewalls installed? Can you also post your ipconfig details? It seems strange that the default gateway is 10.0.0.2 and not 10.0.0.1

its DSL, the router is directly connected to my network card, ive disabled my firewall.
ipconfig details: connection specific DNS Suffix.: ip address :10.0.0.4 Subnet Mask :255.0.0.0 default gateway : 10.0.0.2 |

You said you cant ping the default gateway. How did you try doing this? Go to Start > Run > Type cmd and press ok > Type ping 10.0.0.2 and post the results.
Also go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > Right click on your LAN connection > Properties > TCP/IP properties. Is everything set as auto in there? |

OK thats good so far. I'm not familiar with your router so you'll have to look for the WAN status in your router config page. Type 10.0.0.2 in your web browser and look for a WAN IP address or status page and post what you see, or even a screenshot would be great.
Also try pinging google.com and post the data. Same as before but instead of 10.0.0.2, put google.com |

How did you ping the router then? Did you just have it connected to the pc without the DSL lead plugged in?
Yeah just disconnect your dial up, plug everything in and try pinging google. Also go into the router config page and do what I said in the last post. By the way once you get into the router config double check that your DSL username and password is entered into the router correctly. |
