i just got back from a 2 week holiday during which my pc was unplugged.
I turned it on, it took a little longer to boot up, after about 10 minutes it rebooted without warning, it then got to the windows loading screen and rebooted again and again. I turned to pc off and back on again, it booted up fine , but after 10 minutes another reboot.

I did a virus scan and it picked up something called "winpcap" which was rates at a severe risk, could this be the problem?

I have the same problem, this ''winpcap'' is a so-called password recovery tool.

winPcap is the network packet capture program for windows. basically it's an extension that is needed for many security tools to be run such as network tests and port scanners like nmap. most of the time there is no point installing this remotely on someone else's system to exploit them. However, malware executables can be named after harmless files and it is important to find out where the files are located.
