User Profiles

I am running Win 2000 pro that was installed on a used laptop I recently purchased. I was not given a valid administration password. When I look in System Properties - User Profiles - there is only one profile showing as stored in this computer, and that is the fellow who sold me the computer with a password of nothing (return or enter). How can I set up an administration password or deal with not having a user profile not set up with administration rights.

you need to go back to your seller and get access to the computer for which you paid your money.

Bob, you are going to need the Admin password for that machine.
Once you have the password, you can then set the access rights
for each user. (ie. User, Power User, Guest, or Admin) Until you
get that password from the Seller, are hands are pretty much
tied behind our backs.

Lightbulb Accessing a MOBO with Unknown Administrator's Password ?

Don't you just love it Bob when this kind of thing happens? Your solution to this delema is to find the program "Winternal's Administrators Pack," you can find this on either "SuprNOVA, or in some download forum." In the Administrator's Pack there is a tool for changing the "System's Administrators password."

Code:

Administrator's Pak is a comprehensive suite of powerful, versatile tools that allow you to repair damaged or unbootable systems, restore lost data, and diagnose problems associated with Windows operating systems and file systems. Administrator's Pak includes Cheers and I hope everything has worked out for you, It would appear I'm answering this REQ late LOL.
