I wasnt really sure where to put this because there are a few different problems rolled into one so i decided to put it here. So my Step-dad's computer is being really weird. It doesnt recognise his CD-ROM drives. He has 2 of them, one is a CDRW/DVD and the other is just a normal drive. It wont read CDs and when he looks at the Device Manager it says that they are not working properly. Also he is hooked up to DSL via LAN and the connection is lost on his computer. It works for the other 3 computers in the house but not his. And the cord is hooked up in the back. The strangest thing is he hasnt done anything to cause either of these problems. I am sure that there is a broad catagory of problems that could cause these, but if anyone needs more info about it, i will be sure to figure it out for you. So any help would be nice here. Thanks.
P.S. He has a custom computer with windows XP on it. I am not sure of the specs but i could find them if need be.

Some versions of EZ-CD are known to get rid of the CD-Rom entries. Sort of makes 'em disappear.
Go into Device Manager and uninstall the drives, then reboot. See if Windows will re-install them on boot.

Its says that it installed the device drivers but it cannot detect the hardware device. Well we figured out the DLS problem. It was a loose LAN cord of all things!
