hi all,

recently i have been having problems downloading anything without having the files be corrupted or unusable. This extends also to pictures on webpages, often not loading or on displaying scrambled. This doesnt happen with any of the other PCs on our home network. At first we thought it might just be a bad ethernet cable so we replaced it with no change. Tried updating the drivers for the network adapter (integrated on the motherboard Asus A8N-E) again with no change. Could this mean that my NIC card is dying?

It is not your card. When network hardware starts failing and data gets corrupted, your connections fail too. This problem is usually caused by a failed installation/uninstallation of software that directly effects the network protocol stack such as packet monitors and quality of service drivers. Have you recently installed or uninstalled any software or virtual drivers?
