Please help! I recently bought a D-link wireless adapter (internal) and I can get strong signal from my desired network. However, I am not able to browse, download or do anything on the internet. When I open up Firefox or any browser, I always receive messages that tell me the connection has timed out or cannot connect to server.
My ipconfig/all:
Windows IP Configuration
Host name: Aaron
Primary Dns Suffxi:
Node Type: Hybrid
IP routing enabled: Yes
WINS proxy enabled: No
DNS suffix search list: sac.hdn.net
Ethernet Adapter Wireless connection 4
Connection specific DNS suffix: sac.hdn.net
Description: D-link Airplus G DWL-G510
Physical Address: XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-17
Dhcp enabled: Yes
Autoconfiguration enabled: Yes
IP address: 10.X.X.109
Subnet Mask: 255.255.252.0
Default gateway: 10.0.4.1
DHCP server: 10.0.0.1
DNS server: 10.0.0.1
10.0.0.3
Please help me. Thank you!

Can you post the full ip address without the x's. Also try pinging 10.0.4.1 and post the results. By the way those DNS servers look wrong. It should be either the same as your default gateway or the actual DNS' that your ISP uses. But we can change that anyway but first post the results of the ping.
Also if you have any pc's or laptops connected to the router that work can you post the ipconfig from one of them? It doesn't matter if they are not wireless.

I am using wireless network from my apartment so i have no access to any router
I don't get it? Are you using some sort of public gateway?

the network is provided by my apartment (HighDensityNetwork). it is an open access wireless network which anyone can use if one is registered with HDN. My apple and my GF's laptop can use the wireless smoothly but only my desktop can't. I think the problem lies in my IP,DNS,etc though. I could use it when I first got my adapter but after around 11 hours I can't use it anymore. BTW, my Marvell/yukon controller keeps appearing in my network connections and everytime i reboot, the # after Local area Connection increases. Now it appear as Local Area Connection 10. I have disabled it but nothing changed. I have done everything i can but i know there must be one process i didnt do....just like you said my DNS,etc are wrong. Please help me.

The problem with not having access to the router is you cant check all the settings. Your best bet is to either speak to the people that run the service or post an ipconfig from your GF's laptop. That way we could double check the DNS server on a working laptop.
From the ping stats you posted you are connected to the gateway fine. So that narrows the prob down to your pc. You said you have tried turning off all firewalls so thats out of the equation too. You could try going to the cyber safety forum, read the stickies and post a hijack this log for someone to have a look at. In the mean time maybe someone else will have some ideas.
