Acronis True Image vs Norton Ghost

After some serious difficulties with my PC and loss of files I asked my local computer shop to install an additional hard drive as a slave. Unfortunately they also mirrored my drives using Norton ghost and provided me with a bootable floppy to install each week and back up new files.
I already have Acronis True Image 9 and want to use this software to backup my data (As I can set a schedule for it to do it automatically).
My question is: How do I safely wipe/reformat my slave drive and ensure that any Norton files are eradicated too (before setting up ATI9)? I have tried a file search for "Norton" and "ghost" but have found nothing.

Thanks
OJM

If you want to use True Image you could clone your master drive to the slave drive by using the Clone drive function in True Image. In the process it will format your slave drive so that you don't have to worry about removing Norton Ghost.

Use the diagnostic tools from the hard drive manufacturer and
write zeros to the drive.
This will make sure that "mark this drive usable for norton ghost"
sector is gone and clean the drive.
Then format the drive.

See here
and download the data lifeguard diagnostics for DOS.
Make a floppy and boot from it.
Choose write zeros to the drive.
It takes a while to run.
Make sure you choose the right drive, because the drive
will be completely wiped.
Reboot to windows when done.
Go to start/control panel/administrative tools/
computer management/storage/disk management.
Right click the drive and add a partition.
Then, right click the drive and select format.
Let it finish the format, then the drive will be ready to use.
