Clearing Password

Someone donated some Windows 2000 PCs to a Senior Citizens Center. As far as I know, they haven't any installation or restore CDs or key codes. The one PC I tried to boot was password protected. How can I clear or reset the password?

If I can find an installation CD, can I boot to it and re:install and thus reset the passwords? There are about six PCs. Does this mean I would have to find six installation CDs and their key codes?

Any other ideas?

I would just ask the person that donated the PC'S, they may have disks and/or the passwords for the PC'S?

Hi Jim. I'm sorry but assistance in bypassing windows security is something we can not provide in the public forums.
Reinstalling the O/S is about the only advice we can give.

Theoretically you would only need 1 CD but you would need 6 legitimate licences.
Have you checked the cases of the PCs for licence stickers?

Yes, each PC has a license sticker. So, can I borrow from somewhere a installation CD and re:install the 2000 OS? I've never used 2000 Professional or 2000 anything.

I am being told by management that I'll have to wait and load XP Pro on these machines when the proper licensing becomes available.

Thanks.

Just a note so your management knows that...

XP will want RAM. 256Mb min for XP. Ensure the clients have at least 256Mb. 512Mb is better.
