Why are you choosing to move to Win ME. Windows 98 is so much more stable. I and any of my friends who make our living in the computer industry will actually reformat any machine that is running Win ME and install a more stable OS like Win 98 or XP.
Just a thought. |

Windows 2000 Professional is a far better operating system to upgrade to than Windows ME. If you want to check on system requirements, hardware/software compatibility, etc., then you should check out this site

Windows 200 is much better as is Windows XP but as GretaP pointed out make sure that you check all of your hardware on the Windows HCL (hardware compatibility list.) to make sure that your system is fully compatible. It will save headaches that may come up during installation. Good luck.

You can't uninstall a WIN2K upgrade via Add/Remove Programs like you can with a WINXP upgrade.
If you convert to NTFS file system after upgrading to WIN2K, you would have to format your drive/partition prior to reinstalling WIN98. If you keep the FAT32 file system, you can rename folders that you want to keep and then manually remove WIN2K files prior to reinstalling WIN98 (i.e., you wouldn't necessarily have to format prior to reinstalling WIN98), as per ;250456#6]this MSKB article |
