How did you try and repair it?
You can download it again and one of the following should happen:
1) It will install over top of the current version.
2) It will give you the option to repair.

Lately I've had problems installing AVG as well. I've also had problems with Ewido's online scan crashing IE.
Hmmm...this all started when Grisoft merged with Ewido.

well i have uninstalled it by searching for the exe file and using the uninstall feature in that, It will not uninstall from add remove or program list and it will not uninstall
It says something about an updated installer required. and directs me here (http://www.grisoft.com/doc/Programs/)I downloaded from CTH perhaps the link needs updating

when I looked in my downloads file where I keep all these things, there were 2 versions of AVg. so I ran the older one instead of doing add/remove etc, and clicked on uninstall. that did the trick. I did it in safe mode. then I reinstalled the most recent one and now its fine so far.
