AVG problem

[PurestLight]

I reinstalled AVG free just now (I was trialling NOD 32 for a month)and it wont update. Says the installation must be corrupt and to do it again. I tried to repair it but that doesnt work. So I tried to uninstall it and it says:
Installer initialization failed due to following error:

Error: Initialization of the language file "C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Free" failed.
General failure.

What do I do now if I cant uninstall it?

I have uninstalled it Julie by searching for the exe file and using uninstall feature in that.. try it

however i cant reinstall it and now i cant uninstall it either

Thanks Sho-Dan. I uninstalled it in safe mode and I used the older install file to do it.
