View Full Version : Cannot connect to .asp web sites

I use an assembled computer (which works great) and I use a shared ADSL connection (I configured it today. I hadn't any Internet connection on this computer before) and I can go on the Internet very quickly but I can't connect to any web site with .asp extension (including ALL microsoft web sites) ! It seems that when I go on these sites, I can't connect (like if they're down, but
they're not because they DO work on my other computer).

I can't even connect to MSN Messenger nor to KaZaA, but I can go on any other web site (like yours !)

My firewall (Norton Internet Security) is well configured and even when I disable it, the problem is still there.

I also checked the security level in Internet Explorer 5.5 and it doesn't seem the origin of the problem.

I didn't install anything related to asp (I reinstalled everything of this system a few weeks ago and I'm the only one using it) and I know what I'm talking about because I'm a Web design developper.

My ADSL company's hotline has been useless and I hope that you'll help me.

Thanks in advance...

Hi THYREN - welcome to CTH. I have come across a few instances lately where internet access to various sites was blocked by Norton Firewall even after it was disabled. Here (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12502&highlight=norton+firewall) is one. Try uninstalling it and see if you still have a problem.

Well, I tried everything you said and it still doesn't work !

I also tried to enter the IP address since and same result.

I forgot to say that I tried on both IE (5.5) AND Nestscape Navigator (7).

Hi again THYREN - it might be a good idea if we have a look at your startups. We may be able to identify what is causing your problem.

Go here (http://www.spywareinfo.com/files/startuplist.zip) and download and run Startup List. It will generate a log file. Copy the log and paste it back into this thread
