im gonna be streaming media...ive done it before and converted media files using real producer but no matter what quality i convert the file to, it always ends up with a really nasty popping int he background.....kinda like bongos or somethin. thing is that aint how it sounds b4 i convert it for streaming and my friend has done it on his computer and he doesnt get it.

is there an alternative for converting files, maybe even to a different format, a guy was talkin to me about mp3, although i thought real files were mp3 anyway. basically i just want my files to stream nicely with 56kers without bongo sounds =)

hope someone can help

What kind of files are you putting through real producer? If they are a compressed format like mp3 adding further compression will produce bad results.

Real use their own format, your confusion may be that real player often takes over the association for .mp3 and becomes the default player for them.

MP3 can stream, other options would be Quicktime. There's also a format called Ogg which is a fairly new format but you'll have problems with browser support if you use that.
