Nothing that causes probs, but puzzles me. Thinking it maybe a google toolbar prob.

Guessing that's what caused this. Since uninstall/reinstall of the toolbar I have a blank box in the bottom bar where it lists the open links and progs. Can't right click/close, left click to open, and task manager shows nothing. When everything is shut down, no activity on the modem. All adware/spyware/virii scans are clean. Not a trusted HJT reader, but all looks clean. Tried uninstall of the newest google toolbar, but no joy. Anyone else with this phantom link?

Problem was posted here at my "home" but not finding answeres.

Any and all help is always appreciated.

Can you click anywhere on the toolbar? then customize and see if you can take it off?

Or go to view...Toolbars..Customize and take it out that way. It should show somthing in there like a sperator or somthing like that.. Or click reset.. Thats should do it I hope:happy:

Here's a pic of the problem. Right next to the quick launch icons is my problem.

Check your running processes for anything you don't recognise.

Short answer - sloppy programming hiding a taksbar-eligible app.

Appreciate, my old friend. But it doesn't go away. The phantom link stays.

Problem solved. Had Folding set to start on bootup incase of power interupt. Seems it didn't like that. Unchecked in msconfig and now the taskbar is clear.
