Hi all. I have what has been a doozy of a problem for me to solve. Hopefully someone here can help me. I recently purchased a Compaq Presario 2262 desktop, which although ancient, is good for a learner (A prezzy for mum!!) HAHA!!.
My problem is, after a clean install from Windows 98 to Windows 2000 (Not an upgrade, a clean install), the modem shows up in the device manager with an exclamation mark. When I open the modem I am greeted with a message saying that my modem had been disabled by BIOS. It says that it is Code 29.
I have tried reseating the modem, fiddling with BIOS settings and also have removed the CMOS/BIOS battery and memory for a fresh start. The afformentioned modem is a Lucent brand, although I am unsure of the model but I do know it is the original part for this comp.
Have tried to download driver but the one I got was missing a certain .sys file. I cannot find a updated BIOS flash either.
Can someone please help???
Many thanks in advance
