I installed redat enterprise linux on my system using a 17'' monitor. The monitor went bunkers and I changed to a 15'' monitor. Now, anytime I start my system, it gives me this message "hv frequency over range" and the screen remains blank. Please someone should tell me what to do.

What kind of video card are you using? Can you login to a console?

I'm hoping that you still see information on your screen up to the point where the kernel tries to start your X-Server (the graphical interface). At that point, it is trying to display at a setting designed for your old 17" screen that the 15" screen cannot support. The screen protects itself from damage by giving you that message and preventing the display from showing. What you need to do is switch from the graphical shell to a command line "console". Wait about 5 seconds after the screen turns off and press Ctrl+Alt+F2. This should switch the screen back on and present you with a text only (DOS-Like) logon prompt where you can logon as root and fix your X server settings to recognise the changed screen.
