Tough one...VMware server

I am running Windows XP on VMware server inside freespire linux.
The VMware video driver has video settings that are all at an
85Hz refresh rate.
I have an LCD monitor that only does 60-75HZ.
The monitor properties in XP are greyed out and not accessable.
Is there any way to hack the driver or edit the registry in XP
to allow lower refresh rates?
The best I can do is 800X600 16 bit at default refresh.
No other drivers are available for installing.
Not even the standard VGA drivers windows usually has.

Tough one indeed. Did you install the VM Tools on the XP VM?

cmd /k ipconfig/all [use to start ipconfig from 'Run']
cmd /k ping <some website, like google or yahoo> [use to ping 'www.google.com' from 'Run']

Yes,VMware tools are installed and the VMware SVGA II driver is loaded.
All the resolutions are 85Hz refresh.
I did a search on VMwares forum for video with no results.
I wonder if they are screening that word.

The problem seems to be when I switch to full screen.
It leaves the default Xwindow settings and changes to windows
settings and goes out of range.
I can run under a window using quick switch and use most of the screen.

I'll try to take a look on my system tonight (vm running on XP) and see if I can figure out something. BTW - what Vmware software are you running?

Hmmm. I'm running GSX server and I have no problem with the refresh rate. I can go full screen with 1024x1280 @ 60Hz. Are you sure its nat an issue with the WIndows install?

I have been doing a little reading, and it stated that
the VMware SVGA II driver is supposed to detect the monitors
properties and set related resolutions.
If it can't detect it,it sets defaults.
Appears to be what happened here.
It doesn,'t say how to change it.
Maybe I'll try removing VMware tools and see if monitor properties
become available so I can load the .INF file for the monitor.

On another problem,
I shut down JACK sound so I could use sound in VMware.
When I reenabled it I can't get sound in KDE.
Is the a way to change DSP pointers back to KDE
instead of vmware?
Thanks

Well,no luck uninstalling vmware tools.
Still won't allow me to install the monitor,
even through add hardware in control panel.
I think I need a way to get a driver for linux
for this monitor.
Then, maybe it will be properly detected.
