One PC on my home network recently stopped communicating via TCP/IP. I tracked this down to one of my roommates who attempted, unsuccessfully, to install Winsock 2 so he could use Napster.
I have removed the TCP/IP binding to my NIC and re-added it but the problem continues. I get a DNS error in IE, and when I run WINIPCFG I get 'Fatal Error! Cannot Read IP Configuration.
Checking Microsoft's support showed up kernel Q191064 which advises me to run the WS2BAKUP.BAT file in my c:\windows\ws2bakup directory, but there is no such file.
Any ideas?
