wireless problems!

hello,

yesterday when i turned on my laptop my wireless could not detect my router. so i tried repair the wireless connection and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. i, also, tried to disable and enable my wireless and that is also iffy. my wireless doesn't detect my router nor any of the routers in my apt building. when it does work it detects all different routers. what can i do to fix this problem?

What type of modem is it? Where is it? Wireless has limits as to how far away you can be.
