Problem in Word 2000

Hi
I have a problem in a few saved documents in word.
I would open a folder click on a saved document
It will open ,nothing wrong so far.
When I minimize, and the documents is on task bar,
it will put another duplicate copy of the document
in the folder the first two letter of the title have these symbols instead of letters ~$
I have Norton 2002 and it showed no viruses also uninstalled word and reinstalled word still have same problem
Any help would be appreicated

At a guess I'd say you have your computer set to show hidden files? After you save and close the document.....does it go away?

Hi airdale - that is nothing to worry about. The duplicate with a tilde (~) and dollar sign ($) just indicate that the file is open.

**EDIT** Hiya Daizy

Hi Daizy and Ann Marie,
Thanks for the information.
I found that the documents that I have problems
duplicating are the documents that when you hover on them they say the name of the title and doc
The documents that don't duplicate have the title
and have Read only next to it.
Is there a way that I could have all saved documents have read only.
When I minimize and then close the duplicate document has to be deleted it don't go away .
Right now if I do that enough I will have to empty recycle bin everyday.(HAHA)

Thanks again for the quick response Daizy and Ann Marie
