New Search......

Sometimes I just come over here to browse through the forums, without logging in.
I use the search function {While I'm not logged in}.
It is now asking for this code to be put in before it will carry out the search.
What is the reasoning behind that?:confused:

It's security to stop spam/search bots trawling the site.

I have just checked whose online and there are loads of little spiders scuttling around CTH...can they still get through somehow or are they a different problem.. or no problem:D

You want search bots to index pages. Otherwise we wouldn't get a ranking. You don't need them trawling search pages. It just takes up bandwidth.

I see....

It just seemed abit odd too me.
That you would need to enter in a security code, just to do a site search.

Well with all the nasty things running around out on the net.
Website's were bound to tighten up their security to try too keep them out.

As explained above. If you are not logged in then you are not a member, you are a guest viewing the site. If you are listed as a guest then we don't know who or what you are.

The security is there to prevent search bots indexing search pages.
