Internet Explorer not launching

Tis is not my computers problem, but a friends IE 6.0 will not launch. Whenever it is opened it gets a fatal exception and closes. I obviously can't have hihm try to go to windows update and fix it there since you need IE t do that. I had him try to repair it in Add/Remove programs but that did not work. I then had him reinstall IE 6.0, but that did not work either. My next step for him would be to reinstall windows and that would put it back to IE 4 I think and then have him reinstall IE 6.0. Are there any other suggestions before I have him do that?

have you tried seeing if IE5.5 will work?
as in uninstall IE6, and then install IE5.5
i think a friend of mine had the same problem once also, he ended up just getting rid of IE6 and using IE5

I cannot download anything since IE is not working. My friend went from IE 4 to IE 6 so no install other than IE 6 is on his machine. He also does not have Netscape incase anyone was going to mention using it.

Instead of having him reinstall Windows to see if that would put him back to IE4, you should try the "Restore the previous Windows configuration" option in Add/Remove Programs, as that should have it revert back to the previous browser version.
