master password delete, Firefox

Hi;
I forgot my master password securing saved passwords .
Everytime I want to acces password secured site I am getting the anoying pop-up , asking for master password.
The only instruction which I fund searching Internet starts : " from under edit menu choose preferences" , is no preferences option under my "edit".
All else what I tried does not work, because sooner or later I am prompted for "master password".
I do not care any more about loosing my saved passwords, I just want to get rid of the pop-up, and be able to use Firefox again, please help.

regards
eva

On mine it's under tools,options,privacy,passwords - probably a different version.

it still could be either since the original post did not indicate version all these different versions can get confusing.
