IE 6 and email problems

I have done all the hijack this and spybot cleanups and am still having an issue with IE 6 and yahoo mail and Hotmail not recognizing IE 6. Tom helped me eliminate my browser hijacker but I can still only use plain text on Yahoo mail and Hotmail..

here is what I see from Hotmail:

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Web Browser Software Limitations

Your Current Software May Limit Your Ability to Use Hotmail

You are using a web browser that Hotmail does not support. If you continue to use your current browser software we cannot guarantee that Hotmail will work correctly for you.

We recommend that you upgrade your web browsing software and invite you to download Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any ideas???

Hi betme. Try uninstalling the Yahoo Toolbar from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. Reboot and let us know if this helped.

Go here and download IEFIX.reg to your Desktop. Doubleclick on it and OK any prompt asking if you want to merge the file with your registry (it restores IE's default settings). Reboot.

If you still have a problem, it might be caused by your firewall or ad blocking software if you have any installed. Try disabling your firewall and any ad blocking software and let us know if this made any difference.

Yes, I understand that. Have you tried the suggestions in my previous post?

The only way to reinstall IE when Service Pack 2 is installed is to uninstall SP2, reinstall it and then go back to Windows Updates and download all your updates since installing SP2 again.

Let's see what browser Hotmail is detecting. Open IE and copy and paste the below command in your address bar and hit Go.

javascript:navigator.userAgent

Post back what you see please.
